Introducing ROC288: Next-Gen Rugged Computing for Mission-Ready Defense Systems

-

7STARLAKE, a leading provider of rugged military computing solutions, proudly introduces the ROC288 series 1U fanless server. Engineered to meet mission-critical demands, the ROC288 delivers a rugged, high-performance computing platform tailored for defense applications.

Powered by Intel® Raptor Lake-R/S 14th/13th Gen processors, the ROC288 supports up to 64GB of DDR5 memory and offers extensive connectivity options, including 2 x DP, 2 x HDMI, 3 x 2.5GbE (RJ45), 6 x USB 3.1 (10Gb/s), and more. Designed for tough environments, it operates within an extended temperature range of -30°C to 70°C, and 2 x 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD easy swap trays.

Unlocking Next-Gen Edge Computing:  The Intel® Raptor Lake-Refresh/ Raptor Lake-S Processor

The ROC288 leverages a fully upgraded hybrid performance architecture—featuring the Intel® Raptor Lake-Refresh/Raptor Lake-S Processor—along with the new LGA1700 socket and advanced chipsets. This configuration enables intelligent allocation of high computing power from high core counts, optimized efficiency for graphics performance and machine vision, and enhanced AI inference capabilities, making it ideal for edge AI computing.

Compact Design, Major Impact: The 19" 1U Server for Mission-Critical Deployments

The ROC288 series is a rugged 1U workstation engineered to meet the demanding SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) requirements of tough environments. With a minimum depth of just 370mm, the ROC288 ideally suited for space-constrained edge deployments, including military and defense applications. Its slim profile makes it easily portable, ensuring it is ready for use in mission-critical environments. Moreover, the ROC288 series features a fanless design. An aluminum heat sink efficiently dissipates heat into the surrounding air. The dual-sided thermal solution primarily targets the processor. Thanks to its unique thermal design, 7STARLAKE successfully integrates high-power CPUs (up to 65W) into a fanless 1U system with such a slim form factor.

DDR5 5200 MHz: Engineered for High-Speed Demand

DDR5 memory sets a new benchmark in performance, offering blazing-fast data transfer rates, enhanced bandwidth, and lower power consumption. The ROC288 fully embraces DDR5 technology, supporting up to 64GB modules for faster data access. DDR5 also operates at a lower voltage compared to DDR4, reducing power consumption and ensuring reliable performance under heavy workloads. With DDR5 support, the ROC288 delivers outstanding speed and efficiency.

Effortless Expansion and Flexibility

The ROC288 also features a PCIe x16 Half-Height, Half-Length (HHHL) expansion slot, providing high-bandwidth support for various add-on cards, including LAN cards, capture cards, and display cards. This capability is especially valuable in military applications, where faster data transfer and lower latency can significantly enhance mission effectiveness and response times. Built with scalability in mind, the ROC288 also includes a convenient HDD/SSD easy-swap tray, allowing for quick drive replacements without powering down. These advanced features make the ROC288 series an excellent choice for demanding military and surveillance applications.

The ROC288 series products are distinguished mainly by their power input types and redundancy features. The ROC288A operates on a DC input of 12–36V, while the ROC288AA supports a DC input of 16–31V with redundancy. The ROC288B runs on an AC input of 100–240V, and the ROC288BB offers the same AC input with added redundancy support.
